Attorney Jerry Kaufman has handled many pedestrian auto accidents while practicing law in California for 35 years. Pedestrian accidents tend to be more severe than auto vs. auto accidents. Proper medical care is critical.
If Attorney Jerry Kaufman takes your case, he can refer you to a doctor who can take your case on a lien, meaning we pay the doctor after the case settles. Diagnosing the injury correctly is vitally important. Often when pedestrians and knocked to the ground and hit their head on the pavement, an MRI or other diagnostic tests are essential.
Some of the cases we have handled include pedestrians in a crosswalk, pedestrians not in a crosswalk, pedestrians hit by a car while walking on the sidewalk, a car smashing into a building, joggers, bikers on a sidewalk, a car moving forward while a person was only half in the car, and others.
Some of the common injuries we have handled include death, brain damage, facial injuries, broken foot, broken leg, fractured ribs, nerve damage, shoulder fractures, disc herniations, and others.
If you are in a pedestrian accident, it is very important to call 9-1-1 from the accident scene if possible. Although the LAPD doesn’t take a report in every auto accident, they will take a report when an ambulance is required, when public property is damaged, when the perpetrator engaged in a hit and run, when a police officer is involved in the accident, and others. Other police departments such as the California Highway Patrol will routinely take a police report for any accident in their jurisdiction.
If the driver doesn’t have insurance or if you are the victim of a hit and run, your auto insurance will cover a pedestrian accident if you have uninsured motorist coverage or medical payments coverage. In general, auto insurance covers accidents in which an auto is involved, even if it is only one auto. There are exceptions.
